Who is BNY Mellon CEO Caroline Butler?

Custodial banking giant BNY Mellon (BK) has promoted Caroline Butler to CEO of Digital Assets, the lender announced Thursday. Butler joined BNY Mellon in 2020 and most recently was CEO of Custody Services, where she led development of the bank’s integrated digital custody and administration platform for traditional and digital assets.

BNY Mellon has announced that Caroline Butler has joined BNY Mellon as Global Head of Custody, reporting directly to Roman Regelman, Head of Asset Servicing and Digital, and will be based in New York. In this role, she will lead product strategy, embracing new realities and markets and modernizing custody platforms.

Given BNY Mellon isthe world’s largest custodian with $44 trillion in assets under custody, her role is one of the most important in the institutional digital assets sector. BNY Mellon went live with its institutional offering in October 2022, providing digital custody and administration for both traditional and digital assets.
